Born in Madrid in 2005, Julia Tripodo is an Italian-Argentine cellist who, from an early age, has stood out for her virtuosity and talent in the international music scene.

Julia has accumulated an impressive number of awards in national and international competitions, which has consolidated her position as one of the most outstanding young talents of her generation. Winner of the First Prize (Primo Premio Assoluto) at the Premio Unesco XIII Concorso Internazionale Città di Palmanova in Italy (2025), First Prize and the "Ceské hudební nástroje" award at the 18th International Jan Vychytil Cello Competition in Prague (2024), XI Villa de Molina Young Performers Competition (2025), Gustav Mahler Prize Cello Competition (2025), First Prize at the Servaas International Music Competition, with the second and third prizes being declared void (2023), First Prize at the Royal Maas International Music Competition (2023), First Prize and Special Prize of the City Council at the XXI Benidorm International Music Competition (2019), Málaga Cello Masterclasses (2021), "Cidade de Vigo" String Competition (2019, 2020), "Celloleón" Foundation Competition in León (2018), First Prize at the Ávila Chamber of Youth Music Competition (2018).

Julia made her debut as a soloist at the age of 11 with the Orchestra and Choir of the Community of Madrid (JORCAM), performing Antonio Vivaldi’s Concerto in C minor. At 12, she returned to perform Vivaldi’s Concerto for Two Cellos with the same orchestra. She later appeared as a soloist with Orquesta La Lira Ospal, the Madrid Festival Orchestra under the direction of Albert Skuratov, and the Orchestra of the University of Alcalá in the San Ildefonso Chapel. At 17, Julia made her Latin American debut, performing Aram Khachaturian’s Concerto in E minor with the National Symphony Orchestra of San Juan (Argentina), conducted by Wolfgang Wengenroth. Following this performance, she was reinvited to appear as a soloist in 2024 under the baton of Yenny Delgado. In 2024, at the age of 18, she was invited by Eduardo Vassallo to participate in the 8th Latin American Cello Festival in Buenos Aires, where she was awarded the prize for “International Artistic Project.” During the festival, she performed three recitals, including the national premiere of Mayuzumi’s Bunraku. In 2026, she opened the 65th season of the Midday Concerts of the Mozarteum Argentino, performing with the Camerata Bariloche in the Symphonic Hall of the National Auditorium (Palacio Libertad), where she performed Haydn No.1 Cello Concerto. She also appeared at Teatro El Círculo in Rosario as a soloist with the Orquesta de Cámara Municipal de Rosario, under the direction of Javier Mas.

Julia has given recitals in some of the most important venues in Spain, such as the Auditorio Nacional de Música, the Auditorio Sony, Ateneo de Madrid , Jardi dels Tarongers Foundation in Barcelona and Fundación Miró in Mallorca. She has been invited to play recitals and as a soloist in international’s stages in France (Paris), Czech Republic, Italy, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Argentina and Chile.

Some of the highlights in her career include invitations to Semanas Musicales de Frutillar in Chile (2026), where she played as a soloist in Teatro del Lago and also gave masterclasses, International Mendelssohn Festival (2025), Latin American Cello Festival (2024), Kammermusikfest Winsen – Katharina Sellheim & Friends (2024), Sommermusik im Oberen Nagoldtal (2024), Festival Academy Budapest (2023), Triangel Festival, Dresden (2023), Inusual Music Week in Santander (2023), Cello Akademie Rutesheim in Germany (2022), Bahia Festival in Cadiz (2020), ProCello Foundation Szamotuly-Masterclass in Poland (2019), Benidorm International Music Course (2019), Festival 'Scenic Musical Interpretation' at 'Real Sitio de San Ildefonso' (2019), CelloLeón Festival (2018), Festival Clásicos Colgados (2016), Vic Cello Festival (2014).

Currently, she is pursuing Bachelor of Music under the tutelage of Professor Jean-Guihen Queyras at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg. Previously she studied with Professor Leonid Gorokhov in Hannover, thanks to the support of Becas Ch and Förderkreis der Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover. At the age of 15, she was accepted into the Reina Sofía School of Music in the Aline Foriel-Destezet Chair, where she was a student of Professor Iván Monighetti . She received a tuition and instrument scholarship from the Albéniz Foundation. Julia began to studying cello at the age of four. Throughout her career, she has been selected to receive master classes from renowned artists such as Arto Noras, Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt, Frans Helmerson, Philippe Muller, Sebastian Klinger, Claudio Bohórquez, Troels Svane, Nicolas Altstaedt , among others, and chamber music with Nicolás Chumachenco, Markus Becker, Aitor Hevia and Josep Puchades (Quiroga Quartet), Krzysztof Chorzelski (Belcea Quartet), Heinz Holliger, Pascal Moraguès and Ralf Ghotóni.

From 2014 until 2019, Julia was a member of the Albatros Quartet, directed by Professor Sergio Castro. During this period, she participated in festivals such as Música en Vena in Madrid and the VII Concierto sobre la Hierba in Asturias. During her time at the Reina Sofía School, she was part of the Trio Contrapunto BBDO under the direction of Marta Gulyás and the Cuarteto Banco de España under the direction of Heime Müller.

Julia plays a 1792 Stradivari ‘Davidov’ model cello, kindly loaned and built by Agustín Clemente in 2025.
